Global Volunteerism for SDG 11: Bridging Educational Equity in Faridabad
In the city of Faridabad, India, a significant educational inequity exists within a 10 km radius between underprivileged children attending Jan Parivartan Sanstha's school and those in affluent international schools. Despite following a nationally recognized curriculum, students at Jan Parivartan Sanstha face disadvantages due to inadequate infrastructure, limited teacher training, and a lack of resources and experiential learning opportunities like STEM education. This educational inequity affects the quality of education and future opportunities for underprivileged children, creating a socio-economic divide and hindering Faridabad's sustainable development.
The idea aims to use Jan Parivartan Sanstha's global volunteerism program to bridge the educational gap in Faridabad, India, specifically focusing on the 10km radius where the aforementioned disparity is most evident. By attracting international volunteers, enhancing teacher training, and building partnerships, the goal is to provide equal educational opportunities for underprivileged children. This initiative aligns with SDG 11 and promotes sustainable urban development while fostering a sense of global citizenship among participants.
