Lozania Lifestyle - Inclusive Societies | Active Urbanism | Ecological Habitus
As urbanization increases, athletes and outdoor enthusiasts face challenges in pursuing their activities, leading to significant carbon emissions and environmental impact. The carbon footprint of individual sports, including travel to and from event locations, construction of venues, waste management, and athlete/fan travels, poses a concern for climate change. Despite the climate-dependent nature of many sports, there is a need for greater awareness and responsible behavior among athletes and sports organizations to minimize their environmental impact.
To address these challenges and promote sustainable practices in outdoor sports, we propose building a community of like-minded, nature-loving individuals who champion eco-conscious behaviors and responsible athletic practices. Through awareness building and knowledge sharing, we aim to encourage outdoor enthusiasts to adopt greener habits, such as reusing and upcycling gear, utilizing natural obstacles, and prioritizing in-season sports. Additionally, we envision creating sustainable infrastructure and urban spaces that support outdoor activities with minimal environmental impact. By combining individual efforts with community engagement, we seek to make outdoor sports inherently green and contribute to climate action and sustainable development.
