Enhancing Urban Resilience
Urban ecosystems are essential for environmental conservation and the well-being of residents. Despite evidence that managed vegetation can provide desired services, green urban planning falls short in providing ecosystem services to city dwellers. This highlights the need for versatile green urban infrastructure that remains resilient and provides multiple services in the face of change and uncertainty.
The project is envisioned as a social entrepreneurship venture that provides consultancy and implementation services for sustainable urban green infrastructure (UGI) management, generating customised benefits for the population. This service is particularly relevant to any organisation's CSR strategy, investors, local government urban planning departments and real estate developers. The approach is based on adaptive management and uses an accessible protocol that has already been successfully tested. The final product can include a wide range of solutions, but what's important is that it quantifies specific benefits and is built with the specific needs of the community in mind. The aim is to develop site-specific UGI management strategies that quantify environmental benefits and meet the needs of citizens.
