EcoSustain: Restoring Land and Empowering Communities in Egypt's Desert

The Wahat Bahariya Desert in Egypt is experiencing degradation and desertification, leading to loss of vegetation, biodiversity, and agricultural productivity. This poses a significant challenge to the livelihoods of local communities, with limited access to sustainable food, clean water, and adequate infrastructure, exacerbating their hardships.

Our project aims to address the problem of land degradation through a reforestation and planting initiative covering 10,000 acres of desert land in the Wahat Bahariya Desert. By establishing a diverse forest with various tree species, we aim to restore the ecological balance, improve soil fertility, and create a sustainable ecosystem. Additionally, we integrate agroforestry and urban farming practices to promote local food production, enhance water management, and provide employment and educational opportunities for the community. Through these efforts, we seek to create a more resilient and equitable environment, contributing to global goals of environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.
