Sustainable Agriculture with a Solar Energy-based Insect Trap

In the agriculture field, farmers face significant challenges with pest insects that damage crops and reduce productivity each year. The use of pesticides and chemical methods to control these pests leads to dangerous plant residue affecting farmers, consumers, biodiversity, and the environment.

The project introduces a solar energy-based insect trap utilizing UVA LED light and PWM driving frequency. Designed to be economical, maintenance-free, and solar-powered, the trap aligns with sustainable development goals focused on sustainable communities, affordable and clean energy, and zero hunger. Field-tested in an Indian agricultural setting, its easy installation and minimal maintenance offer potential benefits to both rural and urban populations.
