Sustainable Waste Management Project for Communities and Cities in Cameroon

Transforming Waste: A Sustainable Solution for Cleaner Cities in Cameroon

Cities in Cameroon, like Bamenda, lack effective waste management plans, leading to uncollected waste, environmental hazards, and health risks for residents. Waste disposal practices, including landfill dumping and burning, are unsustainable and contribute to pollution.

My proposed solution involves the implementation of a comprehensive waste management plan that focuses on waste sorting, recycling, and composting. Through a robust educational campaign, I aim to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of waste segregation and its impact on the environment. By sorting biodegradable waste, organic compost will be created, which will be sold to local farmers, generating a sustainable source of income. In parallel, I intend to establish recycling initiatives for non-biodegradable materials to minimize pollution and promote a healthier city. This holistic approach addresses the waste management problem in Bamenda and sets the foundation for a cleaner, more sustainable urban environment.
